Resource Development Coordinator (V-RDC)

The Beaufort County Association for the Blind seeks an energetic, creative, and motivated individual to serve as a resource development coordinator for our organization. The selected candidate will create and implement special events and resource development channels to benefit the blind community, senior populations, and the general public. This role will supply the right candidate with a fantastic opportunity to significantly develop their resume.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Create, execute, and train staff on hosting a music festival event that will bring together local musicians, vendors, and the general public to raise awareness and funds for the blind community.
• Create a holiday event to unite families while promoting awareness of the organization and its mission.
• Develop and implement other annual special events that will include the blind community, older people, and the general public.
• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and individuals to generate support and resources for the organization.
• Identify and pursue grant opportunities, corporate sponsorships, and other resource development channels to support the organization's mission and programs.

Qualifications:
• Significant event planning or resource development -OR- Bachelor's degree in event planning, business management, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Passion for serving the community and promoting inclusivity.
• Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising strategies is a plus, willingness to learn is mandatory.
• experience with blind populations is a plus

Program Site Developer (V-PSD)

Do you have experience in horticulture, community education, and a desire to fully engage in launching and developing a space where everyone feels involved, empowered, and nourished? Does creating an outdoor space to be enjoyed for decades excite you? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We seek a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Program Site Developer. In this role, you will play a crucial part in launching and developing a garden project designed to feed the community and provide places for gatherings, education, social connection, and exercise. We aim to create a space where the community, alongside our blind and low-vision community, will feel welcome and included.

Your primary focus will be on the vigorous development of specialty crop production, including fruits, nuts, and vegetables, and community education. In this role, you will be responsible for creating the infrastructure of the garden project, including developing the planting calendar, and crop rotations, organizing the resources and tools, and overseeing the installation and maintenance of the garden. You will also create and implement community education programs related to horticulture, nutrition, food production, and culinary skills. (Don’t worry if you are not a chef)

The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience in horticulture or related fields and a proven track record of successfully implementing garden projects. We are looking for someone self-motivated, organized, and an excellent communicator. Bonus points will be awarded to candidates with culinary skills!

Culinary Program Developer (Food Surety, Nutrition) (V-CPD)

Are you passionate about healthy eating, fresh food, and community? Do you have experience developing and delivering exceptional menus from simple, fresh, clean ingredients? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to make a difference in our community!

The Beaufort County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired seeks a Culinary Program Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs that focus on healthy fresh food preparation and nutrition.

At the Blind Center/ENCight Gardens, we believe that everyone deserves access to healthy and nutritious food. That's why we've created a unique program that combines community gardens, fresh foods, education, hands-on learning, and community building to help individuals with visual impairments and the community at large, lead healthier lives.

As a Program Developer, you will work closely with our team to develop inclusive educational programs that cover recipe developments, flavor profiles, healthy eating habits, meal planning and preparation, and nutrition. You will also collaborate with local businesses and nutritionists to create engaging and interactive workshops and events.

The ideal candidate for this position will have strong culinary skills, and a deep rooted desire to learn and grow their knowledge surrounding health, and nutrition, and a passion for helping others lead healthier lives. You should be comfortable or open to learning about developing and delivering educational programs, and have excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience in developing and delivering educational programs is a plus, Developing recipes is a must. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating in creating videos, social media posts, and presentations to promote our program. Experience with community outreach and developing partnerships is also highly desirable.

Part of your duties will be to publish a cookbook in conjunction with the Blind Center, showcasing our program's farm-to-table practices, curriculum, and recipes. This cookbook will be a testament to the power of healthy eating and the potential for individuals with visual impairments to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
