Resources
Welcome to the Beaufort County Association for the Blind's resource pages! Our organization is committed to improving work readiness, general access, and providing assistance to those who need aids to improve their sight. This instruction manual will guide you through the process of registering for our services.
Step 1: Initial Intake When you arrive at The Blind Center, our staff will greet you and direct you to the appropriate team member. If you need emergency eyewear, you can choose from the hundreds of pairs available in our reception area. We do request that you sign acknowledging receipt, but it is not required if you are not comfortable doing so. For all other services, we will ask you to complete some basic paperwork, including your name, address, phone number, and any special needs or accommodations you require. If you need help completing the form, our staff will gladly assist you.
Step 2: Needs Assessment Once you complete the intake form, you will meet with our coordinator for a needs assessment. This assessment may involve questions about your education, work history, skills, and needs. If you are interested in serving as part of court-mandated rehabilitation or sentencing, you will need to provide additional information for us to determine if our facility is appropriate for your service.
Step 3: Referral to Services Based on the results of your needs assessment, we may refer you to a social worker for further assessment, or we may provide services without a referral. You may also schedule an appointment directly with our onsite social worker, Kim Revels, by leaving a message with our receptionist, and Ms. Revels will return your call.
Our services include:
Please note that some of our programs require an application and a short waiting period. We will work with you to get through the process as quickly as possible.
